a. By P = IV 10 000 = I(220) Current, I = 45.45A By Plost = I2R = (45.45)2(1) = 2.07 X 103 W b. By P = IV 10 000 = I(400 000) Current, I = 0.025A By Plost = I2R = (0.025)2(1) = 6.25 X 10-4 W That explains why electricity is transferred by high voltage in cable. It is to reduce the power lost.
